Commit To What?

The question, “What do you want?” is usually asked when new people first meet each other, usually during the first date or during a phone call before the first date. Answers may vary, but most will say something like, “I want to be in a committed relationship.” During the date, the person’s true intentions may surface, causing one to ponder what they meant by “commit.” People say they’ll commit, my question is commit to what? Building a relationship with me, building a friendship and not seeing other people while getting to know me, to determine if they want to build a relationship with me, or to being physically intimate with only me?  Continue reading Commit To What?

Praying for Others

Upon reading I John 5:16, “If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it,” I was reminded that we are to pray for others, even those in their sin. We are not to pray that others would suffer eternally for their sin. The scripture says there is a sin unto death and we are not to pray for it. We are to pray for those who are without Christ, that they would receive Christ.  Continue reading Praying for Others

The Reason Why

“We read because if we don’t
Our eyes will dim

We write because if we don’t
Our souls will”

The above is a quote to express why I read and write so much. Television can deaden the soul. It seems the more channels available, the less of interest there is to watch. My soul longs for more, for something stimulating, something to ponder, some “thing” to question whether to agree or disagree with in the end. So, I read.

I write when my thoughts are no longer containable in my mind. Thoughts refuse to escape through verbal expression because such cannot fully express it. So, I write.

Some read and write from an inner passion, boredom, restlessness at night, and a host of other reasons.

Why do you read? Why do you write?

How I Came to Love the King James Version of the Bible

I won’t say that I love the King James Version (KJV) Bible because I believe it is the only version of the Bible of relevance. I love it because being raised with it, reading, and learning to understand it, it has stuck with me, in my head, and in my heart. Other versions of the Bible don’t sound quite right to me, not to say they are wrong, but because the KJV is in my memory. I admit that it took quite some time for me to understand the KJV. People often say it’s too hard to understand and to that I share how I came to understand it.
Here’s my story:
